Hosts Annual Arain Family Mela & Jashan-e-Azadi Pakistan Celebration in Caledon

Toronto, Canada — The Arain Council Canada (ACC), under the leadership of Chairman Mahboob Mian, proudly hosted its annual Arain Family Mela and Jashan-e-Azadi Pakistan celebrations on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the beautiful farm house of Barrister Faisal and Barrister Shahida in Caledon Village, Toronto.

This annual festival, a signature event of Arain Council Canada, brought together more than 400 participants and families from across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Distinguished guests included Ch. Bashir Ahmad, President Saudi Arabia Arain Tanzeem; Mr. Muhammad Asghar Qureshi, Ex-Minister of Azad Kashmir; Mr. Mario Russo, City Councillor; as well as Toronto community leadership, Arain Council Canada members, and their families.

The festival commenced with a vibrant dhol entry and traditional dance, followed by Tilawat-e-Quran, the Canadian National Anthem and the Pakistani National Anthem. Chairman Mahboob Mian warmly welcomed all attendees, highlighting the activities of Arain Council Canada and paying tribute to the heroes and martyrs of Pakistan’s independence movement.

Guests enjoyed a grand feast featuring more than 50 traditional dishes, including Lahori Haleem, Punjabi Saag, Biryani, Korma, Jalebis, sweets, roast, and much more. The cultural program included tug of war (Rassa Kashi), musical chairs, regional dances, fancy dress competitions, and speeches. Numerous gifts and prizes were distributed among participants, adding excitement to the evening.

The event concluded with a group photo session, the Jashan-e-Azadi cake cutting ceremony, and closing remarks of gratitude from Chairman Mahboob Mian.

Chairman Mahboob Mian emphasized that the primary objective of this annual Mela is to promote community unity, socialization, and cultural identity among Canadian families, as well as to welcome and integrate new families into the community.

Arain Council Canada is registered at federal level with Government of Canada and Canada Revenue Agency, non profit, welfare organization in Canada, continues to serve the community with initiatives such as Arain Rishtay (matrimonial services), business advisory services, ladies club, and arbitration council services, all offered free of cost to Canadian families.
