Nouakchott:(International News Desk)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, held talks today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, with His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug.The two sides reviewed the prospects for the distinguished cooperation between the OIC and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, discussed ways to strengthen and expand it, and exchanged views and coordinated on regional issues and priorities for joint Islamic action.During the meeting, His Excellency the Secretary-General reiterated his profound gratitude to His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, for the trust placed in him by nominating him for the post of Secretary-General of the OIC. He also expressed appreciation for the support and diligent diplomatic efforts undertaken by His Excellency the President throughout the nomination process, culminating in his unanimous election as Secretary-General. He further commended the Mauritanian diplomatic efforts in garnering support for this nomination, praising Mauritania’s role and active contribution to supporting the OIC and strengthening the path of joint Islamic action.His Excellency the Secretary-General also expressed his deep appreciation for the warm welcome he received from His Excellency the President during his visit, and for the wise guidance he received, which reflects Mauritania’s commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of the OIC and consolidating the values of solidarity and joint Islamic action.Both sides affirmed their aspiration for further cooperation and deeper consultation and coordination between the OIC General Secretariat and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in a manner that serves the issues of the Islamic world and fulfils the aspirations of the Member States.
