STRASBOURG:(International News Desk) According to global times News Agency Europe,The European Parliament has awarded the Sakharov Prize to journalists Andrzej Poczobut from Belarus and Mzia Amaglobeli from Georgia, both currently in prison .European Parliament President Roberta Metsola emphasized during the award ceremony, held in the Strasbourg plenary session, that the recipients of the award, for over three decades, "form a list of champions of democracy.” "Andrzej and Mzia cannot be here today,” Metsola emphasized. "They are in prison simply for doing their job,” she added.Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, speaking from the "Esperienza Europa – David Sassoli” headquarters in Rome, commented on the award, noting that "today two journalists who fought to defend the truth are being honored.” According to the Foreign Ministry head, the Sakharov Prize "is of great significance because defending human rights is an integral part of our European identity.”
