I am not one of those who will run or hide when I see those who came to the rally to pursue their personal interests,” he said in an interview with Kabar, the state news agency of the country.According to him, he could have been afraid of mass protests if he”“robbed the state,” appointed his relatives and friends to significant positions, or led the state to a crisis.Just the other way round, my team and I are working hard day and night. We have barely pulled the country out of the swamp,” the Kyrgyz leader continued, recalling that systemic theft in the customs and tax spheres has been stopped in the republic in recent years, and the state budget has been increased by almost three times.At the same time, the President of Kyrgyzstan emphasized that the majority of the country’s population supports the course pursued by his team for the development of the state.Over the past week, several rallies have taken place in Kyrgyzstan in support of former officials detained on suspicion of corruption schemes. The protesters demand an end to the persecution of former civil servants, regarding their detention as political persecution.
