Iran initiates impeachment proceedings against urban development minister over port fire.

According to global Times news agency Europe,The Majlis (unicameral parliament) of Iran has initiated impeachment proceedings against the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic Farzaneh Sadegh in connection with the negligence that led to the explosion at the Shahid Rajaee port in the south of the country, according to a member of the Iranian parliament’s committee on public works Mohammad Manan Raisi saying in an interview with the global times Europe media .The inaction and miscalculations of the Port Management Organization, the closure of the housing registration program and deprivation of people of their legal rights, the weak work of the ministry for regulating the real estate market, repeated violations of the law <...> and ignorance of technical aspects are among the main points in the impeachment procedure,” he explained. According to the deputy, 40 signatures in support of impeachment have been registered so far, but, "according to the latest data, their number will grow.At least 70 people died and at least 1,200 were injured as a result of the fire. The Iranian Interior Ministry stated that negligence led to the incident.
