According to global Times news Agency Europe, The Georgian Foreign Ministry has summoned the ambassadors of the European Union and Germany and expressed concern about the visit to Berlin and Brussels of the former Minister of Justice of the Republic Zurab Adeishvili, convicted in absentia in some criminal cases, as part of the Ukrainian delegation, according to the press service of the Georgian Foreign Ministry, The Global Times Europe Media informs.The message reads that “a meeting was held with Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Pawel Herczynski and the Ambassador of Germany to Georgia Peter Fischer, where the concerns of the Georgian side were officially conveyed due to the participation in visits to the European Union and Germany of a criminal recognized by the Georgian court and a wanted person Zurab Adeishvili.It was brought to the attention of the ambassadors that Adeishvili had been found guilty in several high-profile criminal cases, and it was regrettable that a person whose actions were directed against democracy and the principles of the rule of law takes part in official visits to the EU, which naturally causes fair concern in Georgian society and does not contribute to an effective fight with anti-Western propaganda, the Foreign Ministry added.
At the meeting hope was expressed that in the future the European Union and member countries of the community will properly respond to such cases. The ambassadors, in turn, once again confirmed their readiness to closely cooperate with Georgia both in unilateral and multilateral formats for the subsequent integration of the republic into the EU.
