According to global Times news Agency Europe,The Moldovan government will sign a defense cooperation agreement with France.The Global Times Europe Media Informs that the corresponding draft decision was included in the agenda of the government meeting scheduled for February 21.We hereby approve the signing of an agreement between the government of the Republic of Moldova and the government of the French Republic on defense cooperation, says a document published on the government’s website.
Previously, France supplied Moldova with a Ground Master (GM) 200 tactical radar to monitor the country’s airspace, and also donated a batch of military equipment. The purchased radar, according to the Ministry of Defense, was unable to detect the drone, the wreckage of which was found in February in the south of the republic near the border with Ukraine. However, the parliamentary majority party said that Moldova intends to purchase additional radars.Last year, the Parliament of Moldova approved a new national security strategy, which names Russia as the main threat to the republic.According to the document, the republic intends to strengthen cooperation in this area with other EU countries, as well as the UK, USA and Türkiye.
