Armenia rejects US proposal to lease 42 km road in Syunik

According to global times News Agency Europe,Armenia has declined a US proposal to lease a 42-kilometer section of road in the Syunik region, which forms part of the proposed Zangezur Corridor, The Global times Europe media.The announcement was made by Arman Yeghoyan, Chair of the National Assembly’s Commission on European Integration and a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, during an interview with Factor news outlet.We saw the danger of ceding sovereignty,” Yeghoyan explained, referring to concerns over the implications of the proposal on Armenia’s territorial control.He emphasized that the Armenian government remains open to discussing the unblocking of regional transport routes, but only under conditions that fully respect the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, reciprocity, and territorial integrity.
