According to global Times news Agency Europe, Holding Russian presidential elections in the occupied Ukrainian territories would be illegal and would call into question the legitimacy of the overall results, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, The Global Times Europe Informs. On December 8, the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation announced the holding of the next presidential elections on March 15-17, 2024, the statement says.The Russian authorities announced their intention to organize voting in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine: in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, in certain areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzha and Kherson regions of Ukraine.The holding of Russian elections in Ukrainian territories grossly violates the Constitution and legislation of Ukraine, the norms and principles of international law, in particular the UN Charter.Such an election process, like other similar propaganda events in the past, will be declared invalid,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted.
