Peshawar:(Special Correspondent) According to Global Times Media Europe, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Food, Dr. Israr Khan, accompanied by Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, Mr. Kashif Iqbal Jilani, visited Central Jail Peshawar. During the visit, the distinguished guests made a detailed inspection of the cookhouse and raw food store of the jail, where food quality, cleanliness, safe storage of food items and food safety arrangements were reviewed. To ensure implementation of the prescribed food safety standards, samples of raw food items and prepared food were also obtained for laboratory analysis. The delegation later visited the Drug Rehabilitation Center and the Juvenile Prisoners Sector, where they observed the rehabilitation and welfare of prisoners and the facilities provided by the jail administration. The distinguished guests appreciated the reform efforts of the Prisons Department and termed them valuable for the rehabilitation of prisoners. At the end of the visit, the Special Assistant and Director General Food Safety and Halal Food Authority appreciated the effective arrangements for food quality, hygiene and food safety by the prison administration and directed that all the prescribed principles and standards of food safety should be implemented consistently and effectively. The administration of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prisons Department is committed to providing safe, quality, healthy and balanced food to all prisoners, maintaining excellent hygiene arrangements and maintaining the highest food safety standards at all times so as to ensure the health, well-being and successful rehabilitation of the prisoners.
