PESHAWAR:(Report By Wisal Ahmed) According to global Times news Agency Europe, Paraplegic Center Peshawar organized a one-day workshop on wheelchair usage for senior officers of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.The workshop underscored the importance of wheelchairs in easing the lives of individuals with disabilities. Discussions covered the definition of a wheelchair, the various types available, and the appropriate type for different patients. Differences between wheelchairs for children and adults were explained, along with distinctions between commercially available and custom-designed wheelchairs.The characteristics of a good wheelchair and where to obtain one were also addressed.It is noteworthy that Paraplegic Center Peshawar not only provides its patients with tailored wheelchairs, precisely matched to their medical conditions and physical structures, free of charge but also the Assistive Technology Department of Paraplegic Center collobrates with the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar. This collaboration aims to locally design and produce innovative and standardized wheelchairs. As a result, high-quality wheelchairs are made available free of charge for local patients, contributing to substantial foreign exchange savings for Pakistan.Senior officers of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, including Director Lal Badshah, participated enthusiastically in the workshop, expressing keen interest in the standards of wheelchairs produced at Paraplegic Center and the ongoing work on wheelchairs. The workshop not only praised the quality of wheelchairs manufactured at Paraplegic Center but also highlighted the positive impact of the center’s efforts in this regard.The dedication of Paraplegic Center Peshawar’s staff and management to the mission of inclusivity and the empowerment of individuals with disabilities was also commended.The Chief Executive officer ,Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas presented a comprehensive presentation, welcoming the Director and high-ranking officers of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal. He expressed hope for future collaboration, emphasizing the potential success in bringing about positive changes in the lives of thousands of individuals with disabilities. Deputy Director of Assistive Technology, Mansoor Golra, Rehab Engr.Salman Khan and Director ReHab, Dr. Aamir Zaib also addressed the participants.In conclusion, Chairman Board of Paraplegic Center, Peshawar, Mr Zia-ur-Rehman his expressed gratitude to all the participants and distributed certificates of appreciation.
