Mardan:(Special Correspondent) According to Global Times News Agency Europe, Commissioner Mardan Division Syed Muhammad Ali Shah has directed the complete elimination of permanent encroachments and made it clear that no compromise will be made in this regard. He said that in the first phase, urban areas will be cleared of encroachments, while a workable solution should be found for laborers, including cart drivers, whose livelihood is linked to temporary encroachments, so that traffic flow can be maintained without harming their livelihood.
He issued these instructions while presiding over a high-level meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office Mardan to review the elimination of encroachments, improvement of roads, urban beautification and ongoing development projects. The meeting was attended by officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority (PKHA), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Communications and Works Department (C&W) and other concerned agencies. The Commissioner directed the officials of NHA, PKHA and Communications and Works Department to ensure clear identification and demarcation of the boundaries of their respective roads so that the administration can take effective action to eliminate encroachments. He directed the removal of illegal billboards installed on the roads within a week, saying that it is necessary to eliminate factors hindering the beauty of urban areas and traffic flow. The Commissioner also directed the repair of potholes in the middle of the roads, cleaning, painting and renovating the center median, as well as removing dirt from the edges of the roads and making them beautiful.He stressed on paying special attention to the beautification of flyovers in Mardan city and ensuring their regular maintenance and supervision after renovation. In the meeting, the officials of the Cities Improvement Project briefed the Commissioner on the ongoing development works in the city, especially the projects related to the drainage system. The officials said that work is going on rapidly on the project to improve the drainage system in six union councils, out of which the work has been completed in three union councils, while work is ongoing in the remaining areas. Some technical issues have also come to the fore during the implementation of the project. Commissioner Syed Muhammad Ali Shah directed the concerned authorities to resolve these technical issues immediately with the mutual cooperation of the concerned departments so that the timely completion of the projects can be ensured and the citizens get better drainage facilities. He also directed the SNGPL officials to maintain effective communication and mutual consultation with the concerned departments for the installation of gas pipelines so that the roads and urban infrastructure are not damaged during the development works and the beauty of the city is not affected.The Commissioner Mardan Division urged all concerned institutions to perform their duties with mutual communication, effective strategy and responsibility so that Mardan city can be made cleaner, more beautiful and more convenient for citizens through the removal of encroachments, improvement of roads, cleanliness and timely completion of ongoing development projects.
