On May 22, a meeting was held in the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, where the final statements of the accused in the case were heard.The prosecutor, in his indictment, petitioned for the release of Sargsyan and other persons from criminal liability on the basis of the expiration of the statute of limitations.According to the indictment, with the organization of Serzh Sargsyan and the instigation of Barsegh Beglaryan, with the assistance of Samvel Galstyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan, the former Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, from January 25 to February 7, 2013, spent a large amount from the reserve fund of the country’s government (489.16 million drams, or $1.259 million) allocated for diesel fuel under government support programs.
