Safdar Khan Baghi Welcomes New
Provinces and Empowerment of Local Governments.
PESHAWAR:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,Former Nazim, District Council Member Peshawar, and senior political and social leader Safdar Khan Baghi has welcomed the proposed measures regarding the establishment of new provinces, a new administrative structure, and the devolution of powers to the grassroots level, describing them as a positive and potentially transformative development for Pakistan.Safdar Khan Baghi said that the existing centralized administrative and political system had failed to adequately address the basic problems of ordinary citizens. He stressed that the establishment of new provinces must be accompanied by an effective local government system, empowered elected representatives, adequate financial resources, and genuine devolution of authority to the grassroots. He said that Pakistan had experimented with local government systems in the past under which elected representatives at the district level were given administrative powers and development resources. He said institutional reforms should also focus on eliminating nepotism, misuse of authority, corruption, and ineffective governance. He maintained that the creation of new provinces could improve citizens’ access to government institutions, promote balanced regional development, ensure more equitable distribution of development funds, generate employment opportunities and provide better prospects for the country’s growing youth population.Safdar Khan Baghi said the beginning of 2027 could provide an important opportunity to lay the practical foundation for a new administrative structure and the creation of new provinces. He called for the reforms to be implemented through constitutional, democratic and transparent means, with the primary objective of serving the people. He said Pakistan urgently needed to move beyond outdated and inherited systems of governance and establish a **people-oriented, transparent, accountable and effective administrative structure.Safdar Khan Baghi reaffirmed his full support for every constitutional and democratic initiative aimed at devolving powers and resources to the grassroots, empowering educated youth and strengthening democratic institutions for a prosperous and stable Pakistan.
