Doha:(International Desk) According to Global Times Media Europe, the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, has passed away at the age of 74. In a statement issued by the Emiri Diwan of Qatar, confirming the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, it was said that “With full faith in the will of Allah Almighty, the Emiri Diwan expresses its deep sorrow and grief over the great loss of the nation.” It should be noted that Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani served as the Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013 and during his reign, Qatar achieved significant economic, diplomatic and international development. In 2013, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani transferred power to his son and current Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. International Global Times Media Europe Chief Executive, Ikramuddin expressed his sorrow over the death of the former Emir of Qatar and said that Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani was a great leader. He said that Sheikh Hamad’s wisdom and foresight transformed Qatar into a modern, prosperous country. He rendered valuable services for the welfare of the people, regional peace and development, which is commendable. In his condolence statement, he said that may Allah Almighty grant the deceased a high place in Paradise and grant patience to the bereaved family. Amen.
