According to global times News Agency Europe,The Syrian President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, who is currently serving in a transitional period, has arrived in the United States to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).According to the global times Europe media, citing Syria TV, this is the first official visit of a Syrian president to the US since 1967.The channel reports that al-Sharaa is accompanied by four ministers. The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to discuss the restoration of diplomatic relations between Syria and the United States, including the official reopening of the Syrian embassy in Washington, D.C.On September 24, al-Sharaa will deliver a speech from the UNGA podium. CBS News correspondent Jennifer Jacobs, reporting from the White House, stated that "plans for a meeting” between US President Donald Trump and the Syrian leader during the session are being worked out.On May 14, Trump held talks with al-Sharaa in Riyadh. The American leader announced that Washington would begin lifting sanctions that had been imposed on Damascus for decades. On July 1, he signed an executive order to cancel the regime of unilateral sanctions against Syria.
