US approves candidacy of Armenia’s new ambassador

According to global times News Agency Europe,The United States has approved the candidacy of Narek Mkrtchyan, Armenia’s current Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, for the post of Ambassador to Washington, The global times Europe media .Mkrtchyan’s nomination has reportedly sparked mixed reactions within the Armenian government. There are doubts about his ability to work effectively in this position.The term of Armenia’s outgoing ambassador to the US, Lilit Makunts, expired on August 2, 2025. Although she was appointed in 2021, her mandate was not extended, and the presidential decree required for reappointment has not been signed. As a result, under Armenian law, Makunts ceased to officially represent the country as of August 3.
