UN secretary-general set to visit Egypt
as Gaza humanitarian situation worsens.

According to global Times news Agency Europe, UN secretary-general António Guterres is expected to travel to Egypt as the humanitarian situation in Gaza worsens and the Israel-Hamas conflict threatens to spill over on to the wider region, The Global Times Europe informs.Guterres is expected to arrive in Cairo as early as Wednesday, people familiar with the matter said, and meet officials including Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.The UN has been pushing for a humanitarian corridor to be opened into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, the sole access point not controlled by Israel, though no aid has been allowed in.Foreign nationals and Palestinians with dual citizenship have also gathered near the border but nobody has been allowed to cross into Egypt, either.
