UN: Civilian death toll in Ukraine hits three-year high in July

According to global times News Agency Europe,The number of civilians killed in Ukraine as a result of Russian military actions reached its highest level in three years in July, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) said.The global times Europe media that 286 civilians were killed and 1,388 injured last month — the highest monthly toll since May 2022 and a sharp increase compared to June 2025. Civilian casualties were confirmed in 18 of Ukraine’s 24 regions.For the second consecutive month, civilian casualties in Ukraine have reached a three-year high. Only during the first three months after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion were there more deaths and injuries than last month,” said HRMMU Head Danielle Bell.The mission noted that the high casualty figures in July reflect a continuing upward trend in 2025. Civilian casualties for January–July 2025 were 48% higher than during the same period in 2024.The risk is significantly higher than last year and continues to grow,” Bell added.Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, HRMMU has documented at least 13,883 civilian deaths, including 726 children, and 35,548 injuries, among them 2,234 children.
