Brescia, Italy (International Desk) According to global times News Agency Europe,Special Assistant for Overseas Affairs in Italy and Chief of Global Times News Agency Europe, Mr. Ikramuddin Khan, stated that the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Mr. Chaudhry Salik Hussain, undertook his first official visit to the city of Brescia as part of his four-day diplomatic tour to Italy. On this occasion, he held an important meeting with the city’s Mayor, Ms. Laura Castelletti, and addressed a town hall session with the Pakistani community residing in Northern Italy.
Chief Ikramuddin highlighted that during the meeting with the Mayor of Brescia, the Federal Minister engaged in detailed discussions on opportunities for cooperation in education, technology, skill transfer, and strengthening people-to-people ties. Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain emphasized that Brescia, home to the largest Pakistani community in Italy, plays a key role in strengthening relations between Pakistan and Italy.
At the town hall session, Consul General Murad Basir and community representatives warmly welcomed the Federal Minister. The Consul General underscored the fact that the Pakistani diaspora in Northern Italy is among the largest sources of remittances in Europe, contributing over one billion US dollars.
Special Assistant Ikramuddin Khan stated that in his address to the Pakistani community, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain acknowledged their significant role in upholding Pakistan’s dignity abroad. He added that following the remarkable victory of Bunyan al-Marsous Operation in Saudi Arabia and the subsequent military defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, Field Marshal General Hafiz Asim Munir and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif achieved a historic milestone. For the first time in Pakistan’s 77-year history, the nation’s dignity and prestige have risen to new heights, a credit owed to Field Marshal General Hafiz Asim Munir, the Pakistan Armed Forces, and especially Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis. He informed that multiple initiatives are being undertaken to facilitate the legal mobility of workers, enhance bilateral cooperation in manpower, and expand opportunities for investment.
Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain urged the Pakistani community to serve as Pakistan’s “economic ambassadors” by promoting investment and business opportunities in the country.
