JUDICIAL TRAINING ON SGBV JUSTICE RESPONSE

Peshawar:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), in collaboration with the AGHS Legal Aid Cell, inaugurated the fifth batch of the two-day capacity-building training program, "Capacity-Building of Judges on Institutional Response to SGBV Cases,” on September 14, 2026. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Kalim Arshad Khan, Director General of the KPJA, who delivered the keynote address. Ms. Rakhshanda Naz, Founder of Mera Ghar (Noor Education Trust, NET) representing AGHS, shed light on the project background and training objectives. The session was attended by the Dean Faculty, Senior Director Research & Publication, Senior Director Administration, Station Director, Radio Meezan and all directors of the Academy.
A total of 24 judicial officers (5 Additional District & Sessions Judges/Izafi Zilla Qazis and 19 Civil Judges/Judicial Magistrates/ Ilaqa Qazis) are participating in the training. Day 1 featured four intensive technical modules, beginning with a lecture delivered by Mr. Fahad Malik on Gender Sensitisation in SGBV Cases and Roadblocks to Justice, addressing societal perspectives, gender bias, and institutional hurdles. This was followed by an in-depth session by Mr. Hammad Saeed analyzing the statutory ingredients of rape under the new definition and understanding consent. Subsequently, Mr. Fahad Malik detailed the purpose, scope, and key legal provisions of the Anti-Rape Act, 2021.
The first day concluded with an interactive discussion session, setting a strong foundation for Day 2’s agenda on evidentiary matters, domestic violence legislation, medicolegal procedures, and managing vicarious trauma.
