Incidents of violence against school
staff are decreasing. Valditara says, "Anyone who attacks a teacher also attacks the state.
ROME:(International News Desk) According to global times News Agency Europe,The Ministry of Education and Merit has recorded a significant drop in cases of violence against school staff : from September to today, four assaults have been reported, compared to 21 in the same period of the 2024/2025 school year and 19 in 2023/2024. The data confirms a positive trend: in the 2024/2025 school year, there were 51 incidents overall, while in 2023/2024, there were 71. The victims are predominantly teachers, most often attacked by students’ family members. ” Even though we need to wait for this trend to consolidate, these are certainly very important data given the significant drop in assaults ,” declared Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara.A significant role has been played by the introduction of more severe sanctions against those who use violence against school staff and zero tolerance for any form of aggression against them. We are restoring teachers’ authority and putting the culture of respect back at the center. It must be clear that anyone who attacks a teacher also attacks the state,” the minister concluded. The data released is the result of ongoing monitoring initiated by the Ministry of Education in 2023. Previously, incidents were not accurately recorded, which is why the overall data for the 2022/2023 school year is available, but not for the first four months.
