Hundreds of Egyptians to be released
from Libyan prisons.
CAIRO:(International News Desk) According to global times News Agency Europe,Hundreds of Egyptian citizens detained in Libya will soon be released, according to Ambassador Haddad El-Gohary, Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs. This measure is part of the Egyptian government’s ongoing efforts to closely monitor the situation of detainees in Libyan prisons. In 2025, Egyptian authorities have already repatriated over 3,000 citizens accused of irregular immigration, released over 1,200 detainees, and transported more than 300 bodies at state expense following shipwrecks off the Libyan coast.El-Gohary met with over 200 families of missing citizens, urging them to trust only official sources and avoid intermediaries or unknown organizations. He also emphasized the importance of respecting entry regulations into neighboring countries through official visas and documented employment contracts. The deputy minister emphasized the need to take legal action against traffickers and irregular immigration networks, which put the lives of Egyptian citizens at risk and exploit families.
