Where he met the city’s Mayor Laura Castelletti and met with Pakistanis living in northern Italy at the town hall.

Brescia(International News Desk) According to global times News Agency Europe,The Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OPHRD), Chaudhry Salik Hussain, visited Brescia, for the first time where he met Ms. Laura Castelletti, the Mayor of the City and held a Town Hall meeting with members of the Pakistani diaspora residing in Northern Italy. The visit was part of his four-day visit, where earlier he held important meeting with Miniter of Interior and Miniter of Labour in Rome. During the meeting with the Mayor, the Minister expressed his appreciation for Brescia’s vital role in strengthening bilateral relations, by being home to the largest Pakistani diaspora in Italy. The discussions focused on exploring collaborative opportunities in education, technology and skill transfer and people-to-people exchanges.Following the meeting, the Minister held a town hall gathering with the Pakistani community in Brescia. Consul General Murad Baseer warmly welcomed the Minister on behalf of the community, highlighting that the Pakistani diaspora in Northern Italy is one of the largest in continental Europe, with remittances exceeding USD 1 billion.In his address, Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Italy relations and the important role Pakistani diaspora. He acknowledged the challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis and reiterated the Government of Pakistan’s firm commitment to addressing their concerns through coordinated efforts and policy interventions. The Minister outlined a number of initiatives taken by the Government of Pakistan to enhance labour mobility, facilitate legal pathways for migration, and expand opportunities for bilateral workforce cooperation.He also encouraged the Pakistani diaspora to act as economic ambassadors by promoting trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan and fostering stronger linkages between local investors and Pakistani markets.The session reflected the Government’s ongoing commitment to engaging meaningfully with the overseas Pakistani community and incorporating their input into policymaking processes.
