The initiative, now in its twenty-second year, combines music, entertainment, Christmas gifts, and the aroma of sweet treats for a celebration centered on children and their families.
Hundreds of strollers paraded amid applause and smiles, providing one of the afternoon’s most moving moments. An image capable of conveying, better than any words, the profound meaning of the initiative: celebrating birth, birthrate, and life. The Maternal and Child Department of Arnas Garibaldi, directed by Professor Giuseppe Ettore, the creator and organizer of the event, thus wanted to symbolically celebrate, together with all the healthcare workers, the more than two thousand children born at the facility during 2025, with the volunteer associations and the many citizens who chose to join in the Christmas toast.
For the occasion, the Endocrinology classroom at Garibaldi-Nesima Hospital was transformed into a grand Christmas stage, enlivened by musicians and entertainers who created a warm and engaging atmosphere. Television host Sara Putrino led and accompanied the various moments of the afternoon.
Alongside Professor Ettore, the company’s top management was present: the general manager of Arnas Garibaldi, Giuseppe Giammanco, the administrative director Carmelo Ferrara, and the medical director Mauro Sapienza.Numerous dignitaries also attended to offer greetings, including the Prefect of Catania, Pietro Signoriello; the President of the Juvenile Court, Roberto Di Bella; the Deputy Chief of Police of Catania, Giuseppe Anzalone; the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, General Marco Filipponi; the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, General Salvatore Altavilla; the Superintendent of Education, Emilio Grasso; and the representative of the Metropolitan Archbishop, Monsignor Vincenzo Branchina, accompanied by Monsignor Barbaro Scionti and Father Giuseppe Maieli.
