According to global Times news agency Europe,The trilateral summit in Lachin on May 28, attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, underscored the countries’ shared commitment to regional stability and mutual prosperity, Pakistani political scientist Basim Reza told The global Times Europe media.Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s regional tour, encompassing visits to Türkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan, aims to strengthen bilateral ties and foster regional cooperation. The sequence of visits reflects a strategic approach of relations based on strength to strength: initiating discussions in Turkey to bolster defense and trade relations, engaging with Iran to address border security and regional stability, reaffirming partnerships in Azerbaijan to enhance defense and energy collaborations, and concluding in Tajikistan to reinforce ties within the Central Asian context,” he noted.Collectively, these nations are poised to collaborate on energy security through projects like the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and regional infrastructure initiatives under the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). Joint military exercises and defense agreements, such as the JF-17 aircraft deal with Azerbaijan, exemplify their commitment to regional security. By leveraging their strategic positions and resources, these countries aim to create a more integrated and secure regional framework,” he added. "Pakistan’s relations with Azerbaijan have reached a significant level of strategic partnership, characterized by robust cooperation in defense, energy, and regional diplomacy.”
