Armenian health minister interrogated
as part of ‘COVID case.

According to global times news agency Europe,Armenian Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan has been questioned by the Anti-Corruption Committee as part of the “coronavirus case,” The global times Europe media informs.She was reportedly questioned as a witness. Earlier, her predecessor Arsen Torosyan was interrogated, after which the investigation reached a dead end. The preliminary investigation will be completed soon. As part of the sensational “coronavirus case”, the deputy mayor of Yerevan, the former Deputy Minister of Health of Armenia Gevorg Simonyan, the head of the Medline clinic Babken Shaumyan and the deputy director of this clinic Liliya Hovakimyan were imprisoned for two months. Simonyan was accused of failing to fulfill his official commitments in 2020-2022, having been appointed responsible for the implementation of the state program to prevent the spread, control and treatment of coronavirus infection. He was later released. Some 26 billion drams (about $65 million) were allocated for the program from the State Budget Reserve Fund. A list of medical institutions that received compensation from the state for services related to the diagnosis, treatment and detection of COVID-19 was also approved. Among them was also the Medline clinic, whose director is accused of falsifying the medical records of 385 patients who were treated at the medical center and embezzling funds. The investigation accuses both of causing damage to the state.
