Barcelona(International News Desk) According to global times News Agency Europe,On 25th August 2025, a delegation from Pakistan, led by Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), held a productive meeting with Ms. Mari Carmen Garcia Calinova, Government Sub-Delegate in Catalunya, to discuss enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Spain in key areas such as climate resilience, disaster management, sustainable tourism, and humanitarian collaboration. The delegation comprised Mr. Murad Ali Wazir, Consul General of Pakistan in Barcelona; Mr. Salik Mahmood, Community Welfare Attaché; Mr. Ayaz Abbasi; and Mr. Abdul Razaq.During the meeting, Ms. Garcia appreciated the strong and cordial relations between Spain and Pakistan. She expressed condolences and deep sympathy over the recent floods in Pakistan and reiterated Spain’s readiness to extend feasible support. Highlighting Spain’s own challenges with climate-related disasters, such as the floods in Valencia, she emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in disaster management and climate change mitigation. Governor Kundi expressed gratitude for Spain’s consistent support during Pakistan’s challenging times, as well as its balanced and principled positions on global humanitarian issues, particularly those relating to Kashmir and Palestine. He also highlighted KP’s immense potential in tourism and cultural exchange, showcasing the province’s breathtaking landscapes, cultural diversity, and archaeological heritage, including historic Gandhara and Indus Valley sites.Consul General Murad Ali Wazir emphasized that the Consulate General of Pakistan in Barcelona will continue to coordinate closely with the Sub-Delegate’s Office to advance these discussions and convert them into practical collaboration. In response, Ms. Garcia assured her full support and coordination to help take the initiatives forward. At the conclusion of the meeting, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi presented a commemorative shield on behalf of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Ms. Garcia as a gesture of goodwill and friendship. Governor Kundi also extended an invitation to Ms. Garcia and her team to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Barcelona to further explore opportunities for cooperation. Both sides agreed to Initiate technical-level discussions between relevant teams in KP and Spain on disaster management and climate resilience, explore joint programs for tourism promotion and cultural exchange, including potential collaborations with Spanish institutions, and continue dialogue on humanitarian issues for shared advocacy on international platforms. This engagement reflects the shared commitment of both sides to deepen Pakistan–Spain relations and work together to address global challenges while unlocking opportunities in tourism, technical collaboration, and humanitarian initiatives.
